Dorothy Ann Anderson RACINE Dorothy Ann (nee, Driver) Anderson, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012 at All Saints Hospital. Dorothy was born on April 27, 1920 to William and Jean Driver and she lived in Racine until her retirement. Dorothy and her husband then spent fifteen years in Clearwater, FL before moving back to Racine in 1997. On July 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Gilbert H. Anderson, who preceded her in death on October 27, 1995. They spent 49 very happy years together. Dorothy had been employed in the payroll department of Hamilton Beach, and taught many years at the Y-Tot pre-school at the YWCA. She absolutely loved children and served several years as a Big Sister and a grade school tutor. While living in Florida, she and her husband served as adopted grandparents. Dorothy enjoyed traveling to Europe and especially loved rural England and Scotland. When not traveling, she enjoyed playing the piano and organ. Crocheting and flower arranging filled her free time. Being Scottish, she always baked Scottish shortbread and cakes. Dorothy was a lifelong member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, a former member of their adult Bible class, and the Lois Circle. Recently, she was adopted by the 3-Dadult Bible class at EUM Church and formed and everlasting spiritual friendship. She was a past member of the Y-Wives Club, the Racine Womens Club and an active member of the Parents Club of the Racine Scout Drum & Bugle Corps. Surviving are her loving son Richard and wife, Lana; nieces, Dianne (Gary) Wallace, Barbara (Frank) Luchsinger and their children, Audy and Katie Wallace, Julie Bourbeau and Robbie, Sarah, Annie and Margaret Luchsinger; and many friends, especially Betty Alford and Audrey Enright. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gilbert; her parents; sister, Margaret; and her brother, Robert. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Entombment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. and on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or Evangelical United Methodist Church.
