Dorothy Ann Kuerbitz, age 71, of Oscoda, formerly of Lansing, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Tawas City. She was born on Nov. 27, 1943 in Lansing to the late Claude and Helena Whiteman (nee Patton). Dorothy attended both Lansing Community College and Michigan State University. She married the love of her life, James C. Kuerbitz, on April 11, 1963 at Christ Lutheran Church in Lansing. Dorothy worked as an office assistant for Michigan State University for over 20 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, as well as the Friends of the Library in Oscoda. Dorothy enjoyed touring and collecting lighthouses, reading, decorating for the holidays, and most importantly, spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, James Kuerbitz; children, James (Angela) Kuerbitz and Karyn (Scott) Pearl; two brothers; grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda) Bergstrom, Kevin Kuerbitz, Jack Kuerbitz, Jason Pridgeon and Meghan Pearl; and Sparky, her beloved Schnauzer. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oscoda on Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Timothy Azzam officiating.
