Dorothy Marie Adams Bennett, age 92, of Meshoppen, passed away Saturday evening, April 13, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock.Dorothy was born on December 19, 1921 in Black Walnut, the daughter of the late Milton Thomas and Mary Sheffler Adams.She worked for Dury Pants in West Pittston, as well as Consolidated Cigar in West Pittston. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and sewing.Dorothy is survived by her son Gerald Bennett of Meshoppen; her daughters Mary Kantros and her husband Jim of Hobe Sound, Fla., Judy Bennett of Meshoppen, Rose Peiffer and her husband Jesse of Sweet Valley; her grandchildren Jill Bodner of Tallahassee, Fla., Jeffrey Peiffer and his wife Kimberly of Sweet Valley, Brian Peiffer and his wife Jennifer of Chase, Amanda Albert and her husband Dan of Kingsley, and Gerald Bennett of Tunkhannock; six great-grandchildren; her brother Donald Adams of Auburn Center; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Francis Raymond Bennett, Sr.; and her son Francis Bennett, Jr.Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at noon at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Meshoppen, with Rev. Gary Myers of the Meshoppen Biblical Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Jersey Hill Cemetery in Meshoppen.
