SNOW HILL - Mrs. Dorothy Brooks Roberson, 85, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Greendale Forest Nursing Center. A native of Craven County, she was born on Aug. 17, 1931, the daughter of Robert and Gladys Braxton Brooks. Mrs. Roberson resided in Maury for many years prior to moving to the Fort Run community of Greene County. An avid homemaker, she cherished her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Roberson was a member of Davis Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roberson was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Earl "Shorty" Roberson; a son, Charlie Roberson; and daughter-in-law, Betty Roberson. Her surviving family includes her children, Gladys Shirley and husband, Al, of Hookerton, Melvin Earl Roberson Jr. and special friend, David, of Ayden, R.T. Roberson of Snow Hill, Donald Roberson and wife, Debbie, who was her devoted caregiver, of Snow Hill, Billy Roberson and wife, Frances, of Ayden, Pat Roberson and wife, Barbara, of Ayden and Lynn Roberson and wife, Krista, of Maury; sisters, Virginia Starling and Christine Hamilton, both of Kinston; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special brother-in-law, Charles Roberson and wife, Joann of Grifton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Rev. Steven Gay officiating. Interment will follow at the Hollywood Cemetery in Farmville. The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Donald and Debbie Roberson, 1985 Griffin Road, Snow Hill.
