Dorothy C. Tibbitts 1924 - 2016NEW HARTFORD - Dorothy C. Tibbitts, 92, passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2016.She was born on January 16, 1924, in Utica, a daughter of the late Thomas R. and Lillian E. Gage Lee, and received her education in Sauquoit schools.On November 29, 1947, she was united in marriage, in the Norwich Corners Presbyterian Church, with Friend B. Tibbitts, a loving union of almost 54 years until his passing on October 17, 2001.Prior to her marriage, she worked at the Willowvale Bleachery, and after that, dedicated her life to the nurturing of her family and helping on the family farm.Her memberships included Immanuel Baptist Church, New Hartford, and the Norwich Corners Ladies Aide.Dorothy is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Scott Freiermuth, of New Hartford, and her children, Robert, Julie and Amanda, Ellen and Richard Baugh, of Bluegrass, IA, and their son, Justin and Marcia and Ronald Barlow, of Cold Brook, and their children, Alyssa, Ronald, III, Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Emily and William; her son, Ross Tibbitts, of New Hartford; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Tibbitts, of New Hartford, and her son, Brandon; her sisters, Millie Linder, of Sauquoit, Joan Wolcott, of Bowie, MD, and Hazel White, of Kirkland; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her son, Wayne, in 2011; and her brothers, Russell, Ralph and Wilbert Lee.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 16 at 11:00, at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
