Dorothy Lee (Mayberry) Foster Dorothy Lee (Mayberry) Foster died peacefully at home in University Place, Washington on August 1, 2017 at the age of 75 after a long illness. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Foster, of University Place, WA; the children of her blended family, Cynthia Marie (Foster) Huff, of University Place, WA, Sherry Ann (Foster) McDarby, of Ellettsville, IN, Christopher Foster, of Bloomington, IN, John Foster, of St. Charles, MO; her brothers, William Mayberry, of Kansas City, KS, Michael Mayberry, of Steelville, MO, Donald Mayberry, of Bentonville, AR; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dorothy was born on September 5, 1941 in St Louis City, MO to Maurice and Marie (Trost) Mayberry. She graduated from University City High School in 1959, from the University of Missouri St. Louis in 1968 and received her Master of Education from the University of Missouri St. Louis in 1973. She worked as an academic advisor at the University of Missouri St. Louis after graduation until 1976. She married Chuck at her parent's home in Cook Station, MO, on July 4, 1976 and moved to Bloomington, IN where she became the first professional academic advisor in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University. She was, as a co-worker and friend described her, "cheerful, sassy, funny, generous and compassionate." She retired from that position in 2001 and moved to University Place, WA. She was a dedicated advocate for and counselor to the students that she advised. She was a devoted and wise parent, and a loving wife. Dorothy was an active member of the Exchange Club of Tacoma, an avid reader, a skilled organizer, and animal lover. The family thanks caregivers Wilda Lemon, Jean Griffin, Aisha Cutcher, and Megan Sizemore and the MultiCare Hospice team for the loving care that they provided Dorothy. A memorial service with reception following is scheduled for August 16 at 2 p.m. at University Place Presbyterian Church, 8101 27th St W, University Place, WA.
