Dorothy Helen Flaherty Dec. 26, 1923-Dec. 8, 201692, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016. Dorothy was born on December 26, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to Julia and Michael Gallowich, immigrants from Hungary. Dorothy spent most of her life in Morton Grove and Arlington Heights, Illinois before relocating to Brownsburg, Indiana to be close to her cherished only child, Carol Berens. Carol preceded her in death in 2010. Dorothy had a delightful zest for life! She was an avid bridge player, world traveler and lover of classical music. Dorothy was also an accomplished landscape artist.Dorothy will be missed by everyone especially her immediate family, caring son-in-law, Les Berens, grandsons, Jeff Berens and Greg Berens and treasured grandchildren, William and Ally Berens. Dorothy will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.A Celebration of her Life service will be on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at White Lick Presbyterian Church, 2530 N. County Road 600 East, Avon, Indiana 46123. Friends and family may visit from 12:00 to 1:00 with a remembrance service beginning at 1:00 in the sanctuary.
