ORVEK, Dorothy JuneAge 92 of Elmira, N.Y. passed away on March 31, 2017. She was born on July 20, 1924 in Lockhaven, PA to the late John and Alveeta Felix. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 66 years James, sons Kevin of Elmira NY, Steven (Janine) of Webster NY, Michael (Michaelle) of Walworth NY, daughter Kimberly (Danny) Waite of Elmira NY, grandchildren Gin and Maura Anderson, Rebecca Koc and Rita Harstad, Jordan, Jeffrey and Jared Orvek, grandpuppy Taz, sister Sandra (Stuart) Roffman, sister-in-law Annie Orvek, five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her sister Ellen Babcock and brothers Donald Felix and Charles LeFevre Jr. Dorothy served in WWII stationed in Hawaii as a civilian employee of the US Army Air Corp installing bombsite equipment into bombers. She later worked at George Washington School in Elmira as a Teacher's Aid for many years, also serving in several officer positions for the local teachers' union. One of her favorite hobbies was dressing up as a clown for Elmira parades and visiting hospitals. She was the life of the party, an avid reader, a bowler, and did a lot of traveling around the country with James. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, April 2nd from 6 to 8 pm. Her funeral service will be held there on Monday, April 3rd at 11 am. Rev. David Preisendanz will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
