AVILLA — Dorothy A. Lash, 87, of Avilla died on Monday, June 29, 2015, at the Laurels of DeKalb in Butler. She was a member of the St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in Avilla. She was born on May 27, 1928, in Garrett to Alphonse and Lucille (Hill) Hoeffel. On Sept 10, 1949, she married John H. Lash. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2004. Surviving are two sons, Darrell (Dorothy M.) Lash of Kendallville, and David (Rachel) Lash of Avilla; a daughter, Carol (Bob) Herrli of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also preceded in death by a brother, Jim Hoeffel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, Avilla, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Brazzell Funeral Home, Avilla Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Avilla.
