Mystic - Dorothy Louise Jalbert, 83, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016.She was born on Oct. 22, 1933, in Berlin, N.H., to Dorothy and Roland St. Hilaire. Dottie was a graduate of Becker Junior College in Worcester, Mass. She married Paul E. Jalbert in 1954, and they settled in Mystic soon thereafter. She knew that Mystic was a great place to raise her family, and it became her home with Paul for more than 50 years. Dottie was very active in contributing to her community, volunteering for many local organizations, including the Mystic Junior Women's Club, Mystic & Noank Library and the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut. Outside of family, her greatest pleasure was traveling to Europe with Paul and she returned from each trip invigorated by the places they visited, cultures they experienced and people they met.Dottie is survived by her children, Amy and son-in-law, Michael Kennedy, of Groton Long Point; son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Martha, of Ravenna, Ohio; son, Peter and daughter-in-law, Laura, of Marblehead, Mass.; and son, Adam of Mystic. Dorothy is survived by five grandchildren who loved her very much: Jarret Jalbert, Christopher and Nicholas Kennedy, Oliver and Henry Jalbert; and a great-granddaughter, Cora Jalbert. She is also survived by a brother, Donald St. Hilaire of Brevard, N.C.Her husband predeceased her on Sept. 29, 2015.The family thanks the staff at Avalon Health Center and StoneRidge for their loving care and support.In lieu of flowers, donations in Dottie's memory may be made to the Mystic & Noank Library, 40 Library St., Mystic, CT 06355.Her family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Patrick Church, 32 East Main St., Mystic. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, River Road, Old Mystic.
