Dorothy Matichich Obituary

Sep 15, 1924 - Jan 07, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Matichich, DorothyDorothy Matichich passed away peacefully on June 7, 2017 at Sheboygan Health Services (formerly Golden Living). Dorothy was born on September 15, 1924 to Fred and Anna (Kaiser) Weber. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Sheboygan Central High with the class of 1942. Dorothy was united in marriage with John Matichich on November 23, 1946 at St. Cyril and Methodious Catholic Church. John preceded her in death on August 24, 2009. During her working years, she was employed by Armour Leather Tannery and was a housekeeper for Kohler Schools and Sheboygan City Hall. Dorothy belonged to T.O.P.S., where she maintained her goal weight for more than 20 years, enjoyed walking, knitting, crocheting and was a very good writer. Dorothy was a very modest and humble woman with a great sense of humor and a very giving heart. During the Beanie Baby craze, she enjoyed collecting them with her family, and had a great sense of fun in making them and other members of her family's stuffed animal collection come to life. She was a good listener and offered a helping hand to many people; nothing pleased her more than seeing one of her club members that she had encouraged lose weight or seeing one of her children or friends accomplish something that she had supported them in doing.Dorothy had a strong sense of family and religion. She grew up in a large household and looked forward to family gatherings such as summer picnics and holiday get-togethers. She converted to Catholicism when she got married so her family could go to church together, and happily worked to help her children go to college. Dorothy lived in Sheboygan her entire life. She always commented on how blessed she and John were to have great neighbors, and the feeling was always mutual. She and John enjoyed traveling to visit their adult children when they lived in a variety of places in the United States such as Washington DC, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Tucson, Arizona, and she even made a brief foray into Mexico during one of those visits to the Southwest.Dorothy is survived by her son, Mike Matichich of Arlington, VA; nieces and nephews, Judy Rahn, Ruth Lallemont, Joanne Richards, Mary Watters, Susan Trossen, Janet Mihm, Gloria Zittel, Sharon Albright, Annette Lemont, Paul Majerle, Mark Weber, Ronald Weber Jr. and Frank Koroschetz; son-in-law, Mike Ensley and granddaughter, Monica Ensley and her three children, Olivia, Mackale, and Campbell. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ensley; infant son, John; siblings Ronald Weber, Fred Weber and Lilly Thiel and niece, Sandy Davis. Dorothy is further survived and preceded by many other relatives and friends.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1305 Humboldt Ave. Sheboygan, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Memorials to the National Inclusion Project ( inclusionproject.org) in Dorothy's name are appreciated; this worthy organization, which supports participation in activities by all children, was co-founded by Clay Aiken, who was favorite singer of Dorothy and her family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Dorothy's doctors, especially Dr. Michael Johnson and Dr. John Olsen. The family is also grateful for the loving care provided to Dorothy by Christine Sloan and by the staff at Sheboygan Health Services.Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com
