Dorothy Ruth Brewer, of Yuma, Arizona, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, lovingly surrounded by her family.Dorothy was born on November 7, 1929, in Lansing, Illinois, to the Reverend Alex and Henrietta Guebert. She was a lifelong Lutheran who cherished her faith, her family and her friends. She shared her love of singing and laughter with her seven children, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was active in Bible study, and enjoyed reading, gardening, and jigsaw puzzles.She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, David R. Brewer, Sr., her brothers Robert, Alex, and Henry Guebert, and her sisters, Joy Reid and Betty Keller. She is survived by her children, Kip of Orange, CA; Mike (Mary) of Dalton Gardens, ID; Joy Brewer of Spokane, WA; Susan (Mark) Allen of San Juan Capistrano, CA; Pam (Ben) Hembree of Folsom, CA; Patty (Duane) Sheppard of Yuma, and Vicky (Michael) Nasser of Grand Rapids, MI; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Edith (Don) Haber of Spokane, WA; and many nieces and nephews.Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, at 11:00AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Yuma, Rev. Vince Harman presiding. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, at 10:30AM at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Orange, CA.
