Dorothy SampsonMarch 7, 1930 - Nov. 1, 2016SOUTH BEND - Dorothy M. Sampson, age 86, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross. She was born on March 7, 1930, in Chicago, IL, to the late Arthur and Mildred Hawkins. On June 27, 1980, in Munster, IN, she married Homer D. Sampson, who survives.Dorothy retired as a social worker in the Gary School Corporation. She spent her life serving the Lord and doing missionary work in Costa Rica. She is survived by her husband, Homer Sampson; and his children, Peggy (Greg) Gatewood of Louisville, KY, Edith (Dennis) Gerdes of Mishawaka and Rodger (Ellen) Sampson of Buchanan, MI; and her sister, Ruth (Al) Biggs of Kansas City, KS. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Palmer Funeral Home~River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN, friends may visit with family on Friday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
