Dorothy Sarah Ploucher VittoriSouth Bend, IndianaDorothy Sarah Ploucher Vittori died at home on June 5, 2017 in South Bend, Indiana, with her loving family by her side. Dorothy (Dotty) was born on December 21, 1925, in Stiles, PA, to John Jacob and Helen (Carson) Ploucher. On April 24, 1954, she married Frank E. Vittori of Camden, NJ, who preceded her in death on December 12, 1971. Dotty was raised in Philadelphia during the Great Depression, and was the youngest in a family of five children, which included her siblings Albert, Lillian, Richard, and Helen. In her youth, Dotty enjoyed attending Frankford Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Through the years, Dotty was an excellent student and graduated from Frankford High School in 1943. After working for a few years as a bank teller, and at a few other jobs, she enrolled in the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing, where she was a model student. In 1951, Dotty was awarded the Gold Medal at PGH School of Nursing, and had the highest grade point average in her class. She was very proud of being a nurse, and helping people in need. Her greatest joy in life was being the mother of 8 children. While living in Cherry Hill, NJ, Dotty took great pride and pleasure in the challenges and responsibilities of raising her children as best she could. In 1981, with two of her children in tow, Dotty moved to South Bend, Indiana to live with her widowed sister, Lillian Evans, who faithfully and generously helped the Vittori family over the years. Dotty and Lil were constant companions for many years, and Dotty remained close until Lil's final days in April 2008.In recent years, Dotty has courageously survived the effects of declining health. She especially cherished visits with her children and grandchildren. Dotty was a voracious reader, enjoyed writing poetry, spent hours coloring, and had a great love for animals, as well. For the last 16 years, Dotty lived with David and Angel Konkey and their family, where she was provided with faithful and loving care.Dorothy will be greatly missed by her children: Lisa Vittori (Claus Schlund) of San Francisco, CA; Dede (Jeff Baker) Vittori of Newton, MA; Frances Payne of Thorofare, NJ; Frank Vittori of Los Angeles, CA; Angel (David) Konkey, and Ellen (Larry) Greenspun of South Bend, IN; John (Angela) Vittori of Indianapolis, IN, and George (Julie) Vittori of Evansville, IN.
