YORKTOWN - Dorothy Shivers Chavers entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was born on July 27, 1937 to the late David and Pattie Crawley Shivers Sr. She was preceded in death by brothers John Shivers and David Shivers, Jr., Sisters Cleo Hardy and Frances Kea; and cousin Henry Lias. She graduated from Isle of Wight Training School and began her career at Hayden Junior High as an administrative assistant and continued on at Newport News Shipbuilding, where she retired after 25 years of service. Her true ministry was sharing God's word and devotion to her family. She received Christ as a young child and with unwavering faith maintained Jesus Christ as her personal lord and savior. She was a faithful member of Bethel Church, Hampton, Va. She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Felecia Warren Blowe (Felton), a son, James Warren Jr., three grandchildren, Timothy Blowe (Tameka), Tyler Blowe, Trenton Blowe, three great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Thelma Shivers and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Main Street Baptist Church, Smithfield, Va. Viewing will be held on Thursday December 1, 2016 from 4-7 PM at Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield. Interment will be in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery, Ivor, Va.
