Dorothy V. Galecki, 95, of New Britain, CT passed away peacefully Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Autumn Lake Health Care after a lengthy illness. Dorothy was the loving wife for sixty-three years to the late Joseph Edward Galecki. She was born on 11/26/21 the youngest of twelve children to the late Joseph Nicholas and Petronella (Stockus) Krist. Dorothy grew up in Windsor and upon her marriage to Joseph Edward Galecki she moved to New Britain, raised her family and she began her career in Real Estate. Dorothy became a Real Estate Broker. She was employed by the Gustin Company for over forty years during which time she became sales manager. Dottie broke glass ceilings in the Real Estate business before we knew them as such by holding every office in the Greater New Britain Board, being one of the first woman Realtors in the New Britain area and becoming the first woman president for the Greater New Britain Board of Realtors. She also received the award of Realtor of the Year. Dottie was also a member of the Business and Professional Women of New Britain. Dorothy loved her work and even late in life she encountered people that she had sold houses to who profusely thanked and praised her. Dottie and Ed traveled throughout the U.S. and spent many winters at the Largo Mar in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and summers at Hawk's Nest Beach in Old Lyme, CT where she held various administrative positions including president of the Hawk's Nest Beach Association. Dottie was an outstanding cook, hosting many family parties, however one of her favorite things was dining at fine restaurants. A beautiful woman, Dottie was well known for her sense of style and fashion. She was a lover of politics and followed the news religiously. Dottie was a devoted wife and mother and loving great/grandmother. She will be missed by all of her family. Dottie is survived by her son and two daughters and their husbands: Richard Galecki of New Britain, CT., Patty and Greg Eaton of Ware, MA., and Kathy and Dave Lundquist of East Hampton, CT. She also leaves five grandchildren: Carla and her husband Matt Bajek of Granby, CT., Richard Galecki, Jr. and his wife Laura of Berlin, CT., Drew Eaton and his partner Nicole Saffer of Ware, MA., and Chris and Mike Lundquist of East Hampton, CT. Dottie is also survived by five great grandchildren. All of Dottie's siblings predeceased her but she is survived by many loved nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Station 5 at Autumn Lake and Masonicare Hospice staff for the excellent care they provided to Dorothy.
