Elias, DougDoug Elias, 64, of Newfield, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Son of Dutch and Dori Elias, he was born on July 8, 1952 in Spokane, WA . Doug is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda Callahan, his brother Dann in Texas, his stepsons, Scott and Kevin Morris (wife, Jessica Chen), his sister-in-law Eileen Callahan and her partner Galen Baril in Charleston, SC and numerous cousins. His parents pre-deceased him. Doug had a passion for systems science, in which he received his Ph.D. from Binghamton University, and had a tremendous joy of teaching. His most recent employment was as a technical consultant with Ithaca College. From his undergraduate days at the University of Washington in Seattle, he carried with him always a tremendous love of the Pacific Northwest. He was a devoted martial arts student, science fiction fan, and dog and cat lover. In keeping with his wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service; rather, family and friends will be invited to celebrate his life later this year.
