Training with the Gracie brothers in California & Hawaii and owning Michigan Martial Arts in Farmington Hills, MI were highlights of his life. Doug aka "Mr. Miles" or "Master Lee" valued hard work and respect for others. He encouraged so many young people in the community and always pushed them to be and do their best.
Mr. Miles had a lot of love for a family cabin on Black Lake in Cheboygan, Michigan where his family played for generations. It was considered a slice of heaven to everyone in the Miles family and the place he was happiest. There he spent many summers and winters dirt biking, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and Jet skiing with his family. His ashes will be spread over Black Lake in an intimate ceremony later this summer.
