Douglas G. Erwin Age 78, of Penn Yan, NY, died June 24th, 2017. He was born on October 15, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY, to Frank and Phyllis Erwin. He graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1956. In 1960, he moved to Tacoma, where he rose to the position of President of State Mutual Savings Bank. Following his successful career at the bank, he became president of Financial Pacific, a financial services company. He retired in 1998 and traveled Europe with his wife Judy and they twice drove around the United States. Doug was very engaged with his community. In Tacoma he served on the boards of the United Way, Bellarmine Preparatory School, YMCA, Tacoma Public Utilities, the American Cancer Society, and many other agencies. He was also a longstanding member of the Tacoma Country and Golf Club. After returning to Penn Yan he was president and business manager for Lakeside Country Club, and was on the board of the Penn Yan Public Library and Yates History Center. Doug had a zest for life, and his passions included his family, friends, travel, running (one of his fondest memories was running the Boston Marathon in 1982 while on his honeymoon), and contributing to the community. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Judy; his daughter Kelley Walker (Kenneth) of Bedford, NH, son Patrick Erwin (Marilyn Strickland) of Tacoma, and daughter Heather Hoppin (Jon) of Fort Collins. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, and is survived by his siblings Donald Erwin (Mary Lou) of Tacoma, Robert Erwin (Betty) of Gig Harbor, and Jan Donion (Wally) of Gig Harbor, and several nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his son Aaron Forman and his brother Gary Erwin.
