Douglas Lee Silsbee 62 of Bath, NY passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness Thursday November 17th 2016 at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. Douglas was born on May 14th, 1954 in Hornell, NY and was the son of Donald and Marion Lucille Silsbee. He grew up on a farm in Cameron, NY with his brother and two sisters. Doug was a 1972 Graduate of Addison Central School and obtained his AS degree in 1975 from Corning Community College. He moved to Bath with his parents in December of 1979 and then met his wonderful wife, Judith A. Marshall and they married on October 16, 1982 and had two children.He was the Fire Chief, member of the Fire Department and Ambulance Service for Cameron Fire Department for many years prior to 1980. Doug was employed at Hanna & Hamilton until 1985. He started work July of 1985 for Philips Lighting in Bath where he retired as a Sr. Engineer in February of 2013. Douglas started his next career at Steuben County Department of Public Works in February of 2013 until present as the Leachate Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic. Doug was an avid outdoorsman and loved cutting firewood, farming, working on tractors and machinery and hunting. He was quite the carpenter and built his home and outbuildings to their present state. Douglas enjoyed horseback riding with his wife and children, attending horseshows and was an active parent and supporter of the Steuben County 4-H Horse Program. He was a caring husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, friend and neighbor that will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Douglas leaves behind his wife of 34 years Judith, children Tara (Collin) Muller, Nathan Silsbee. Sister Donna Silsbee, Brother Keith Silsbee, Sister Pamela (Jack) Bisikirski, Brother In Law Timothy (Karen) Marshall, Sister In Law Joan (Steve) Burdick, Nephews Benjamin, Dylan, and Justin, Nieces Scarlett and Danica, Aunt Carol (Craig) Andrews and many cousins. He is predeceased by his father and mother Donald and Marion Lucille Silsbee and father and mother in law Douglas and Joyce Marshall. Calling Hours will be held Friday, November 25th, 2016 at Bond Davis Funeral Home in Bath from 12 to 2 with the funeral being held at 2. Private burial for the family will be held after the funeral at Nondaga Cemetary in Bath.
