Douglas Owen Meacham Obituary

May 04, 1965 - Feb 26, 2024

This obituary is administered by:

Douglas Owen Meacham, 58, of Sarasota Florida, originally from Upper Arlington Ohio, entered the Kingdom of God on February 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard C, and Jean O Meacham. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda Marie Meacham, his three children, Rebecca, Laura (Ryan), Andrew (Kyra), his siblings, Mark, and twin sister Beth, and his grandchildren Aiden and Larissa.

Doug graduated from Upper Arlington High School, where he played lacrosse and was captain of the wrestling team. He received a Mechanical Engineering Technology degree from Clemson University. While attending Clemson, he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He also attended campus ministry bible studies, where he began his walk with Jesus. He had a successful career as an engineer where he found great satisfaction and friendship, especially at Radiant Power Corporation.

Doug had a passion for God and an overwhelming love for his family. He lived every day for God and demonstrated the love of Christ wherever he went. His spiritual journey was central to his life, which he lived out in a sincere and humble way. He was a peacekeeper with a gentle and kind soul, a friend to all, a great uniter known for his fairness and selflessness.

Through the years, Doug developed a love of camping while in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed a trip to Philmont with his father, later earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved to camp on the family farm in Powell with his friends, even in rain or snow. While Doug loved Christian Music, he could also be found in his red truck jamming out to Classic Rock with a White Castle slider in hand.

One highlight of his life was the yearly family trip to the beloved cabins of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where he loved to walk the trails around the lake and play in the family euchre tournaments. He greatly looked forward to the annual fall motorcycle ride with his siblings through the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, most recently in October of 2023.

Doug will be remembered in a service at St Wilfred Episcopal Church, 3773 Wilkinson Road, Sarasota Fl, 34233 on Sunday March 3 at 1:30pm. An Online Live Stream of the service has been made available and can be found using the following link: https://evt.live/doug-meacham-memorial-service. There will also be a Celebration of Life planned for later this spring in Ohio.
