Douglas Stewart, 52Douglas Stewart, 52, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A Celebration of Doug's Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course. www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.Douglas Stewart was born on September 25, 1964, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of John and Geraldine (Timm) Stewart. Doug was a 1983 graduate of Central High School and later went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant. In 1990, Doug was united in marriage to Yazmin Avalos at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. Doug had worked at Long John Silver's, Oscar Mayer and Allsteel. He was a member of Team Iowa. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling, working on his car, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and traveling to "Pensacola, Florida." Doug was very proud of his Scottish Heritage. His greatest love was the time he spent with his family and his dogs, Ringo, Jack and Tommy. Doug will be remembered everyday by his wife, Yazmin, of Muscatine; sons, Alex (Ashley) Stewart of North Liberty, Kiefer Avalos of Muscatine and Sam Stewart of Iowa City; his baby girl, Emma Stewart (fiancé, Ryan) of Silvis, Illinois; one grandson, Gavin Stewart; sisters, Nancy Stewart-Hawkins of Mediapolis and Barb (Lyn) Peterman of Davenport; mother-in-law, Imelda Luna and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gerry and John and his beloved grandmother, Irene.
