Douglas Wade HarrisDoug Harris, age 70, passed away on October 1, 2015 at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, WA, resulting from a heart attack.Doug was born on October 19, 1944, along with his twin sister Diane to Gifford and Louise Harris of Republic, WA. Doug grew up with and is survived by his siblings Lynne (Floyd) Richmond of Little Falls, MN, Diane (Paul) Hicks of Sparks, NV, and Sheri (Jerry) Windsor of Mt. Vernon, WA.After graduating from Republic High School in 1962, Doug attended Kinman Business College in Spokane. In 1965 Doug married Gloria Scalf and they moved to the Tri-Cities, WA where they raised their 3 children Kimberly (Brian) Kelly of Seattle, Lori (Pietro) Aiello of Tacoma and Wade (Heather) Harris of Issaquah.Later Doug met the love of his life, Kathy, and married in 1991 combining their families to include Laurie Christiansen of Wasilla, AK and Robin (Ernie) Dittmann of Lakewood, WA. Doug and Kathy took great pride in their children and 9 grandchildren. Doug and Kathy moved to Ellensburg, WA, 17 years ago where Doug enjoyed spending time working with his horses, roping with best friend Roy Doak, hunting every Fall with son Wade, sister Sheri, brother-in-law Jerry and friend Roy Ballard of Richland, WA. Doug was an excellent marksman and it was always a good day when he got his buck opening morning.Doug and Kathy just built a new home in Sequim and were looking forward to retiring in the "Blue Hole". Father, grandfather, brother, friend…… Doug will be remembered for his kind heart and will be missed immensely.He is survived by his spouse Kathy, children Kim, Lori, Wade, Laurie & Robin, 9 grandchildren Kurt, Kyla, Katie, Joe, Tyler, Casey, Twins Hattie & Hallie, and Annabella, sisters Lynne, Diane & Sheri, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Gifford & Louise Harris.A celebration of Doug's Life will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015, from 2:00-5:00PM at the Carousel Pavilion Ferry County Fairgrounds with a graveside service preceding at 1:00PM. Casual attire, hunting clothes preferred. In lieu of flowers a donation in Doug's name to the Republic Cemetery Association, PO Box 451, Republic, WA 99166 would be appreciated. The family has also requested that friends bring photos of Doug and lots of those good old "Republic Tales."
