Douglas William Anderson Sr was born to the late William Samuel Anderson Sr and Gwendolyn J Brown-Anderson. He was educated partially in the Darby township school system and later received his GED while in the U.S Navy. Douglas Anderson Sr served in the U.S Navy and fought in the Vietnam War. He was later medically discharged. In 1969 Douglas was joined in matrimony to Deborah G. Gray-Anderson and from that union came two children Darshelly and Douglas W. Anderson II. Douglas worked odd jobs, Sears with his older brother Morris, Allegheny lighting company, and later Douglas applied for and tested for a position with British Petroleum and out of 500-600 candidates he scored among the top ten. He learned of this when his father came to his home and stated, “Son you keep getting phone calls from the employment office and I’m tired of the guy calling the house can you please call him back.” Douglas Anderson worked as a machinist for British Petroleum and later was educated by the company to be a welder.
Later Douglas met and married Elisa and from that union came Minka Anderson-Hill and Marcell Anderson. However there was one piece of the puzzle missing and later Douglas before passing got to meet his son David Porter.
Douglas is preceded in death by Joyce Clark (sister) and Kenneth Anderson (brother)
He leaves to mourn the following his mother Gwen Anderson, Morris Anderson (brother), Sylvia Anderson Castro (sister). Darshelly Anderson eldest daughter (Missouri) Douglas Anderson II eldest son (Upper Darby) David Porter son (New Hampshire) Minka Anderson-Hill youngest daughter (Delaware) Marcell Anderson son (Delaware) Son in law Steve Hill. Grandchildren Jaeyanna, Douglas Adeah Anderson, Amani Hines, Mackenzie , Steve, Morgan, Jaleighsa, and Alexander. one great grandson Josiah Elijah Gillette-Taylor. A host of nieces nephews and cousins.
