Duane Donnell Easterling (40), also known as Bookie; lived in Fort Washington, Maryland, had a seizure, and died on January 10, 2023. Duane was born to Duane Easterling and Shelia Easterling on May 25, 1982, in Washington, DC. He was a talented security officer who loved his job dearly, and took great pride in it. More importantly, he loved spending his free time with his children. Duane devoted his life to caring for his two sons and his beautiful daughter. As he would say, he was a great “dad” to his three kids. Duane had a good friend and was close to her children, as well.
Duane was predeceased by his paternal grandmother and his father, Duane Easterling. He was survived by his mother, Shelia Easterling; his two sons and daughter, Tay Easterling, Trey Easterling, and Destinie Linkous. He was also survived by two brothers, Charles Easterling, and Ron Easterling. His sister-in-law Precious, who has been in his ]and his brother Ron’s life for years. Lastly, Duane was survived by the two mothers of his children, Tiffany Howard, and Mary K. Linkous. Let’s not forget his extended family; many of Duane's cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews adored him. As a family man, Duane was very dedicated to his loved ones and thought highly of them. Duane found the most satisfaction in life's simplest pleasures. Duane's smile was his way of showing he could handle whatever life threw at him. He enjoyed making others laugh. Every year, he would look forward to spending the holidays and his children’s birthdays with them. He seemed to be able to find joy in any situation. When it came to making other people laugh, Duane had no limits. His greatest concern was that his daughter was growing up too quickly, but he made sure to keep the "talks" interesting. Although Duane was not in any specific relationship with the mothers of his children, the three of them were like family because the two of them were particularly dear to him. His children's mothers were very special to him because they gave him his most precious gifts. His love is sacrificial, patient, kind, humble, honest, forgiving, faithful, and selfless. It is also constant and unchanging. He enjoyed karaoke and dancing. Overall, he enjoyed having a good time, which he could make happen even in the dullest moments.
His funeral and memorial services will be held by Terrence L. Johnson Funeral Services, PA, White Plains, Maryland. The visitation, viewing, and services will begin at 10 a.m. at New Life Church in LaPlata, Maryland. Do not weep for me!
I have not gone. I am the wind that shakes the mighty oak. I am the gentle rain
That hits you in the face. I am the spring flower that pushes through the dark
earth. I am the chuckling laughter of the mountain stream. Do not weep for me
I have not gone. I am the memory that dwells in the heart of those that
knew me. I am the shadow that dances on the edge of your vision. I am the wild
goose that flies south at autumn's call, and I shall return at summer's rising. I
I'm the stag on the way to the wild hills. I am just around the corner.
