Williams, E R Jr. E R Williams, Jr. passed away on April 24th, 2017. E R was born on August 26, 1935 in Decatur, Texas. He was the only child of E R Williams and Louise (Strange) Williams both Texas natives. After graduating from High School in Palestine, Texas he enrolled in The University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1958. He enjoyed some exciting times while at UT by being part of the track team. Following graduation he received a job offer from Texas Instruments in Dallas. While working at Texas Instruments he met and married Gwen Gage and had a son Gage Williams born in 1962. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1966 with an exciting job offer from Motorola. They later separated in 1972 and he made a fresh start as Plant Manager for a subsidiary of Motorola in Puerto Rico. When the tour ended in Puerto Rico he went to work for Fairchild Camera in Mountain View, California in 1975. While in California he met and later married Patricia Cartwright in 1977. He returned to Arizona with Motorola in 1977 where he spent the last ten years of his career on the Iridium Program that launched sixty-six satellites. His daughter Erin Rachel Williams was born in Scottsdale in 1985. After forty years in the electronics industry he retired in 1998. His life than focused on his family, traveling, golf, frequent workouts at the fitness center, and reading a few books a week.
