ANGOLA — Earl H. Farver, 96, loving husband, father and grandfather, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Northern Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Angola. He was born on February 28, 1918, in Rose City, Michigan, to the late Ray F. and Pearl (Armstrong) Farver. He graduated from Flint High School in 1936, honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and worked as an engineer for NIPSCO for 39 years. Growing up, he was a member of the Nevada Mills United Methodist Church and later Jamestown Missionary Church. He was a pilot, rock tumbler, woodworker, picker, whistler, would buy and sell musical instruments and enjoyed history. He was a member of the Angola American Legion Post #31 and Steuben County Genealogy Society. He leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Beverly J. (Cook) Farver, whom he married on June 2, 1944, in Auburn, Indiana. Also surviving are a son; Jeffry R. (Carolyn) Farver of LaGrange, a daughter; Mary L. (Hugh) Close of Fremont; four grandchildren, Todd and Kristi Farver of LaGrange, Dr. Anthony Close of Jakarta, Indonesia, Leah J. Close of Coldwater, Michigan, and Kathryn A. Close of Fremont; three great-grandchildren, Chad and Kody Olds and Zander Farver; and one great-great-grandchild, Eli Olds. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Guy and Ralph Farver. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015, at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 108 S. West Street, Angola, Indiana. Rev. Frank Garton of Bourbonnais, Illinois, officiating. Interment will follow in the Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana. Calling will be one hour prior to the memorial services.
