Earl J Babcock, SrAge: 87 • BurlingtonEarl J. Babcock, Sr. 87, passed away on January 13, 2017 at Starr Farm Nursing Home. He was born on July 16, 1929 to Cedric and Margart (Fairbanks) Babcock. On Sept. 5, 1953, Earl married the love of his life Carmel Pello in St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. He proudly served his country in the US Navy, including serving in Korea, before he retired after twenty years. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish. He worked for many years and retired from New England Telephone Company. Earl volunteered with the North Burlington Little League for 30 years, one year he managed the 1981 All Star team to the New England Regional Finals. He was a CYO basketball coach for tens years. His main passions were spending time with family and friends, and sports especially Notre Dame football, the NY Yankees, and the NY Giants.Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Michael J. and his wife, Sis, of Davie, Fla., and Earl J. Jr. of Burlington; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-granddaughter; his brother Thomas Babcock of Sebring, FL, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife Carmel, son, Gregory L. Babcock in 1995, sisters Betsey, and Peggy. The family would like to express their gratitude to Marge Hennessey, Steve and Linda Audette, Sylvia Sargent, and all his friends and neighbors who have been there for him all these years. Also the staff at Colchester RiteAid, all the Price Choppers, staff at Starr Farm, Sister Marie, Sister Theresa, and Fr Julian Asucan.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM Wednesday January 18, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Colchester. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring. Donations may be made in his honor to the North Burlington Little League. Condolences may be shared at
