Earl Marshall Sr. , 81, was born on March 25, 1940 In Marks, Mississippi to Frank Sr. and Pinkie Marshall (nee Johnson).
Earl moved with his parents and older siblings to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the early 1940's. Earl scri accepted Christ as his personal savior at a very early age. Earl received his formal education in Milwaukee.
Earl enlisted in the U.S. Airforce in October 1955 where he completed AF technical school eagerly and proudly served a four year active duty term through October 1959. After an honorable discharge, Earl completed his military reserve obligation through June 1963.
While working at the V.A. Hospital in the early 1960's, he met and fell in love with Wilma J. Fields. Earl and Wilma were united in holy matrimony on October 23, 1963. To this union two children were born.
Earl became a dedicated public servant in 1966 as a City of Milwaukee police officer. One of EarJ's fondest memories in his career was as a Lieutenant at Milwaukee'a 5th district where he encountered some school aged children who had been saving money for a class trip to Florida. When the money was stolen from the fund, Earl also volunteered his time as a mentor to underprivileged young men at the Lavarnway Boys Club for several years. Earl retired as a City of Milwaukee Police Captain in April 1992.
Earl re-dedicated his life to Christ in 1994 and began attending St. Matthew CME Church where he participated on the steward board and remained an active supportive member even after relocating to Arizona in 2004.
Earl loved playing golf which he learned from his only son. Earl loved playing so much that once moving to Arizona, he played golf 5 days per week consistently from 2004-2016.
He also loved watching sports on television and was the biggest fan at his grandson's basketball games.
Earl Marshall Sr. departed this life on Tuesday June 15, 2021 at his home in Surprise, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Pinkie Marshall; three brothers, Ephriam Johnson, Melvin Marshall, Frank Marshell; two sisters, Ruth D. Marshall and Georgia Brice; and one beloved granddaughter, Eboney Janae Joshua.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Earl Jr.; his daughter, Ericka Michelle; six grandchildren; Jessica Smith, Tarence Joshua, Earl III., Derrick, Colette and Nathaniel Marshall; three great grand children, MaReese, Persesani and Zoe Janae; nieces; Helena, Kate, Carol and Rachael; nephews, Derrick and Donnell and a host of other loving family members and many friends.
