Klatt, Rev. Eberhard Georg FriedrichRev. Eberhard Georg Friedrich Klatt, age 81, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer at Felician Village, Manitowoc, surrounded by family. Eberhard was born on November 6, 1935, in Stettin, Germany to the late Georg and Gertrude (Heinze) Klatt. After bombing during WWII and the death of his father, his family lived as refugees in Bavaria, Germany until they emigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While at Concordia College, he met Betty Jane Gnewuch on her family's farm and they were married on August 22, 1959. He continued his education at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and was ordained after graduation in 1960. Together, they served in Wall, SD; Rantoul, WI; Merrill, WI; Milwaukee, WI; and Hartland, WI. He served as circuit counselor, mentored many, and was a catalyst in inner city missions. He was invited to preach in English and German and wrote many devotions, sermons and podcasts for German listeners around the world. Pastor Klatt was well known throughout his ministry for his gentle spirit, excellent preaching and teaching, intense love of God and genuine compassion for all of God's children. Eb is survived by five children: Lori Ann (Rev. Dr. Scott) Rische, El Cajon, CA; Rev. Alan Klatt, Oconomowoc, Pamela (Rev. Tim) Patten, Cincinnati, OH; Dr. Jonathan (Dr. Margaret) Klatt, Manitowoc, and Dr. Ruth (Rev. David) Seabaugh, Elmhurst, IL. He is also survived by a sister: Sybille Miller, Santa Cruz, CA. Eb and Betty had 22 grandchildren: David (Lindsey), Sarah (Zach Pfannenstiel), Benjamin (Rebecca) & Hannah Rische; Christiana, Melody, Benjamin, Alisa, Tiffany, Sarena, Noelle & Ariana Klatt; Naomi, Bethany, & Lucas Patten; Jonathan Jr., Lydia & Emma Klatt; Josiah, Daniel, Elijah & Samuel Seabaugh and 4 great grandchildren; Kadence, Kevin, Kinsley and Isaac. Eb is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his parents, Georg and Gertrude Klatt, and his sisters, Hannelore Thurner and Gertraude Hirsch. Visitation with family and friends will take place on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 4-8pm at Harder Funeral Home (18700 W Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI 53045). On Friday, May 12 visitation will be 9-11 am, a memorial service will begin at 11am with a luncheon immediately to follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (8080 N 47th St., Brown Deer, WI 53223). Private burial will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Lebanon, WI.
