Funeral Services for Mr. Eddie Joe Coffey, 67, of Decatur, Alabama will be 1:00 PM Sunday at Bell Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. James Coffey officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until 5:30 PM in the Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel.
Eddie Joe Coffey was born February 25, 1954 in Trinity, Alabama to James Edward and Laura Mae Coffey. He departed this life on November 13, 2024 in the comfort of his home in Decatur, Alabama.
Joe dedicated his life to the Lord at an early age and joined Love Chapel CME Church where he remained an active faithful member for the duration of his life.
Joe attended West Morgan High School and entered into the Navy on March 30 1972 at the age of 18. He had various jobs throughout his lifetime but was best known as “The Fry Guy”. Joe was one of the original members of the gospel group “NC Stars”. On April 19th, 2013 Eddie Joe married his devoted wife, Jerita Pennington.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, James Edward and Laura Mae Coffey; brother Abraham Lincoln Coffey; sister, Laura Morris; nephew, Jeremy Coffey.
His spirit awaits the homecoming of: his loving wife, Jerita Coffey; three stepchildren, Crystal Sanders (Yahya) of Decatur, Anya Wimberly (Quan) of Tucson, AZ, Larry Wimberly of Chickasha, OK; two sisters, Lucy Brown (Lester) of Courtland, Melissa Wiley (Alvis) of Decatur; two sisters-in-law, Linda Horton of Chickahsa, OK, Nikki Sampson of Tucson, AZ; five brothers, James Curtis Coffey (Pricester), Franklin Coffey, Roy McDaniel all of Decatur, Elder Stanley Coffey of Houston, TX, Rev James Coffey (Melissa) of Muscle Shoals; two brothers-in-law; Leon Morris of Decatur,Keith Doss of Chickasha, OK; three uncles, Bossie Johnson (Clara), Bishop Robert Johnson (Mary) both of Hillsboro, Dan Johnson of Decatur; two aunts, Lucy Mae Johnson, Lena Johnson of Decatur; 13 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
