Eddie Perez, 58, took his last journey on Saturday, February 1, 2014 after a long illness. Eddie was born on November 15, 1955 in Yuma, Arizona to Rafaela and Eugene Perez. He attended elementary schools and Yuma High School and he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. On May 12, 1989 he married Melinda, his "redheaded firecracker" and they were married until her death in October 2013. Eddie was fun-loving, very caring, sentimental, gentle and spiritual with a deep faith in God. He loved his "oldies but goodies" especially music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. He began playing guitar as a teenager and joined a band called "the Trash" playing at various social events. Eddie loved family gatherings and his guitar always joined the party. Eddie leaves behind his mother, Rafaela "Blondie" Perez; daughters, Barbara (Robert) Freeman, Hope Wright, Destiny Simmons, Elizabeth (Matt) McQueen; son, David (Jenessa) Perez; 6 granddaughters and 5 grandsons. He is also survived by his brother, Gene Perez; sisters, Tima (Dave) Shireman, Rose Mary Mercado, Norma (Cesar) Reta, and Diane (Tom) Wood; 10 nieces and nephews. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Melinda and his father, Eugene Perez. Eddie became an organ donor and it comforts us to know that he was able to help those waiting for his contribution. A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Johnsons Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at the American Legion, 2575 S. Virginia Drive, Yuma. The limbs from the tree have started to fall but Eddie will forever live in our hearts and always be a part of us, never to be forgotten.
You can to the family or in memory of Eddie Perez.
