Edeltraud “Elsie” Marie Carter, 76, of Front Royal, died peacefully Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born October 28, 1947 in Germany to the late Ludwig and Anna Vogl.
Elsie was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, doing puzzles, and spending time with the family. She loved spending time with her grandkids and going to church. Elsie liked watching soap operas, Dr. Phil, and Joel Olsteen on Sunday mornings.
She is survived by six children, Ricky Carter (Lucy) of Rhoadesville, Theresa Willis (Gus) of Front Royal, Benji Carter (Suzanna) of Amissville, Michael Carter (Cheryl) of Remington, Shelby Blankenship (Bobby) of Culpeper, and Christine Wilson (Ricky) of Culpeper; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; four sisters; and three brothers.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Benjamin Carter, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating. Interment will follow at Sumerduck Baptist Church Cemetery, 5354 Sumerduck Rd, Sumerduck, VA. Pallbearers serving the family will be Ricky Carter, Jr., Benjamin Carter, III, George Gray, III, Patrick Wilson, Jr., Dustin Gray, Christopher Wilson, and Ryan Blankenship.
