It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edgar Lewis Page Jr a beloved father, grandfather, husband, and friend. Edgar peacefully passed away on March 24th, surrounded by his family, at the age of 62.
Born on February 25,1933, in Washington DC, Edgar grew up with a passion for the outdoors and a deep love for his community. After graduating from high school, he went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he earned commendations for his dedication and courage.
After his service, Edgar returned to DC and began a long career in engineering, working for more than 30 years. Known for his meticulous work ethic, he played a key role in several landmark construction projects in the region. His colleagues often referred to him as “the man who could build anything.”
Outside of work, Edgar was an avid outdoors man who loved fishing, and camping with his family. He spent countless weekends in the Rockies, passing on his love for nature to his children and grandchildren. He also volunteered regularly at his local church, where he served as a deacon and mentor to many younger members of the congregation.
John was preceded by his devoted wife of 50 years, Barbra; his 4 children, James Obryant (Jayy) Raeghean Padgett (Rae) Kayla Eads and Alexis Ford; he is also survived by a host of grandchildren.
On Monday, April 7, 2025 from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. friends may visit with the family at Allen Chapel AME Church, 2498 Alabama ave., SE Washington, DC 20020. Interment: Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
