Edith Lyndall Ragans DavisEdith Lyndall Ragans Davis, 97, passed away on May 12, 2017 at Harbor Chase in Tallahassee, Florida. Edith was born on January 26, 1920 to Robert Early and Della Lenora McDonald Ragans and lived in Madison, Florida all of her life. She was the last surviving sibling of 11 children, to include brothers, Oscar, Henry, Buddy, John, George, and Vernon, and sisters, Irene Andrews, Gracie Gibson, Eunice Tyson, and Eddie Bevis. After completing her education in the Madison Schools, Edith worked for American Sumatra Tobacco Company and The Bank of Madison. She met and married her husband of 58 years, Dr. J. Aubrey Davis in 1946, when he came to Madison as a young veterinarian. There, they worked together, raised their family, and were an active part of the community their entire lives. Edith was a member of The Madison Garden Club and Madison Women's Club. She loved to arrange flowers, and to entertain large groups of friends and family with barbecues and fish fries. She was a lifelong member of The First Baptist Church and was involved and dedicated to the church in every way. Edith remained in her home that she and Doc built in 1951, across the street from First Baptist Church, until February, 2013. She then moved to Harbor Chase, an assisted living facility in Tallahassee, to be closer to her children. Edith is survived by her son Dr. James A. Davis, Jr. and his wife Judy Livingston Davis, of Tallahassee, FL and her daughter, Becky Davis Frame and her husband, Tim Frame of Madison, MS. She was so proud of her five grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. They are James A. Davis, III and his wife Heather, and their children Anna, Eliza and Aubrey, of Charlotte, NC; Bri'Anne Davis Smith and her husband, Jay and their three children, Avery, Kate and Claire, of Tallahassee, FL; Alison Davis Wagnon and her husband Daniel and their three children, Kaitlyn Yarborough, Davis and Ben Wagnon, of Tallahassee, FL; Tim Frame, Jr. and his wife Katie, and their twin sons, Parker and Henry, of New Orleans, LA; and Andy Frame and his wife Anna, and their children, Sybil and Davis, of Jackson, MS. Edith leaves behind her sister-in-law, Juanita Ragans, (wife of Vernon), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins that brought so much joy to her life. Memorial gifts can be made to the building Fund of The First Baptist Church, Madison, Florida, or to the . With love and care given by Mary Alice Lewis and Frances Arnold, Edith was able to stay in her home as long as possible. The family is thankful for them, as well as Latoria Denson and Debbie Hampton, her sitters at Harbor Chase, who lovingly cared for her until the end. Graveside services will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery on Wednesday, May 17, at ten o'clock. Visitation will occur at graveside after the service and a reception lunch will follow at Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.
