Edmund Adam Schindler of Tawas City passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility in Tawas City, age 99 years. Edmund was born on April 15, 1917 in Frankenlust Township to John and Anna (Wegner) Schindler. He proudly served our country during World War II in the United States Army. After his honorable separation from the military, he went to work as a skilled carpenter working mainly on highway and interstate bridges. Edmund retired in 1979 after many years of hard work and decided to enjoy his retirement years. He will be remembered as a very avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local No. 118 and also a lifetime member of the VFW in Westland. Edmund is survived by his three loving children, Robert Schindler of Wayne, Jean (Jeff) Kallgren of Wixom and Noreen Oliver of Tawas City; nine grandchildren, Rob, Adam, Jeff, Kim, Brian, Emily, Jessica, Tayler and Emily; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death in 2001 by his wife, Mary Katherine Schindler, to whom he married in Bowling Green, Ohio on Dec. 20, 1941. His family will welcome friends at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. for visitation. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. at Buresh Funeral Home. His family will welcome friends at the funeral home that morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Interment will take place in Tawas City Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors.
