Edna B. King, 97 of Bedford, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born on Friday, April 18, 1919 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Robert L. Bowyer and Effie Nester Bowyer. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Leo H. Waldron and her second husband, Frank Edward King. She was a retired cashier at Safeway Supermarkets and was member of Union United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Cooksey and husband, Raymond of Sunset Beach, NC, Betty Fisher and husband, David of Springfield; her sons, George H. Waldron and wife, Patricia of Bedford, Francis E. King and wife, Nancy of Christiansburg, John E. King of Arlington as well as eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; her sisters, Rachel Schultz of Maryland and Joyce Heaton of Satellite Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to make memorials consider Bedford Hospice Care, 1631 Whitfield Drive, Bedford, VA 24523. The family received friends beginning at 9 AM on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service and a funeral followed at 10 AM in the chapel. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
