Edna Erlene CowanHattiesburgEdna Erlene Cowan, 90, of Hattiesburg, died peacefully on March 13, 2017, at Brookdale Care Center. Visitation will be Friday, March 17, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, with graveside services immediately following at 11:30 a.m. at Roseland Park Cemetery.Mrs. Cowan was born on January 12, 1927, in Baldwyn, Mississippi and grew up on a farm there. She graduated from Baldwyn High School and was Salutatorian of the Class of 1945. After graduation, she attended Blue Mountain College. Erlene later married and made her home in Hattiesburg. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, fully devoted to the care of her family. She was a faithful member of Main Street Baptist Church for over 65 years.She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edward L. Cowan; her parents, John and Mabel Epting; and two sisters, Josephine Grisham and Nannie Lee Davis.She is survived by one daughter, Judy (Cecil) Chambliss of Hattiesburg; two sons, Tom (Barbara) Cowan of Hattiesburg and Micky (Becky) Cowan of Ridgeland; nine grandchildren, Chad Chambliss, Matt Chambliss, Ashley Chambliss, Rachel Nix, Jason Cowan, John Cowan, Charles Cowan, Laura Leone, and Haley Dawkins; and 13 great grandchildren.
