Edna M. FountainEdna M. Fountain, 93, passed away on February 22, 2017 in Peoria, Arizona.Edna was born on February 2, 1924 on a farm near Romney, Indiana to the late Miles and Georgia Shumate Prather. During her youth, she moved around quite a bit and graduated from New Richmond High School in 1942. In 1946, she met her future husband Charles Fountain after he just returned from serving in WWII. The couple was married soon after and eventually settled down in Brookston, Indiana where they lived for close to 33 years.After Edna's husband retired in 1984, the couple wintered in Florida.Charles died in 1996, and Edna spent her final years in Arizona.Edna was a member of the Brookston Eastern Star, an auxiliary member of the Brookston American Legion, and a member of the Canasta 8 Card Club in Lafayette, Indiana. Edna loved to play cards, was an avid bingo player, and loved slot machines.She is survived by three children, Patti (husband: Jim) Raher of Dayton, Indiana, Barry Fountain of Lafayette, Indiana and Dwight Fountain of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Tami (husband: Joe) Mackey of Lafayette, Indiana Renee (Husband: Michael) Konopa of Berryville, Virginia, Kristina Fountain of Bridgewater, Virginia, and Kimberly Fountain of San Antonio, Texas; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Hathaway of Lafayette, Indiana.In addition to her parents and husband, Edna is preceded in death by sister, Frances Casad, and a brother, Robert Prather.Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette, Indiana. Pastor Denny Frank will officiate. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens of West Lafayette, Indiana. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Claire and Patrick G. Mackey Children's Cancer Foundation.
