Edna Rowena Davis Brawley MorrisonDallas, TXOur beloved mother was born on May 1, 1918 in Union Church, Mississippi. She died on New Year's Eve, 12/31/2016. She was the second of six children of George Odam and Annie Eliza Davis. She graduated from Jefferson County Agricultural High School and went on to receive her diploma from The Vicksburg School of Cosmetology in 1938. She spent her early professional career in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she married and raised her family. In her early 50's, she moved to Jackson, Mississippi and started a second career working for the State Tax Commission - Petroleum Tax Division as an Auditor, retiring at age 70. She spent her later years in Dallas, Texas with her family and many friends. Mom was an active member of Highland Baptist Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Gwen Brawley Farris and Donna Brawley Gowan of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Lauren Gowan Dupre of Lafayette, Louisiana, William Alexander Gowan, Asher Scott Watkins, Amon Carter Austin and his wife, Allison Austin of Dallas, Texas. Edna is also survived by her niece, Madge Davis and nephews, Larry Davis and David Cothern. She is great-grandmother to Brooks and Molly Gowan; Rosemary, Cornelia, and Alexander Dupre; and Savannah Watkins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Howard, Marie Davis Cothern, Julia Davis Vick, Joe and David Monroe Davis.Services will be held at Union Church Baptist Church, Union Church Mississippi on Thursday January 5th. Visitation and services 9:30-11:00. Burial will follow at the Union Church Cemetery.
