A Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother
After her battle with rectal and cervical cancer, Edna Ruth McCorkle of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away on November 05, 2022 peacefully at home at the age of 68.
She was born on September 16, 1954 in San Berdino, California to parents Troy and Helen Vaughn, who predeceased her. She grew up in a loving family with 1 brother, Lloyd Jarrett (deceased), and 8 sisters, Barbara Jackson, Doris Jackson (deceased), Carroll Jarrett (deceased), Elaine James (deceased), Reva Hernandez, Reba Dalbey (deceased), Nedra Jones, and Yolanda Wilkerson.
She married Lawrence McCorkle, who predeceased her in 2012, in 1991 and they lived together in Marietta, Georgia after moving from California in 1994. Together they raised 5 children Chris harlan (Brittany Harlan), Richard Harlan (Shawntel Harlan), Jamie Harlan, Misty Damian, and Tawny Dotson (Kevin Dotson), and Scott Christopher who she viewed as a son of her own. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandson, who she loved dearly and were the lights of her life.
Edna worked at Waffle House for 29 years and was passionate about creating the most positive change in people. She loved serving other people and making anyone and everyone happy, no matter the cost to her. Throughout the 29 years of serving, she acquired a Waffle House family, consisting of both coworkers and customers.
Edna was family oriented and loved to be surrounded by the ones she loved. Some of her favorite things to do was to visit Gatlingburg, Tennessee with family and to watch crime shows on the TV. Edna will be dearly missed, but she will forever live on in the loving memories we all share with her and of her.
