Edward A. ShafferSeptember 25, 1936 - September 2, 2013Edward Antone Shaffer, 76, of Inkom, Idaho passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Portneuf Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 25, 1936 in Pocatello to Daniel Isaac Shaffer and Helen JessieGrotbo Shaffer.He attended school in Inkom where he was active in sports, and was the senior class president. While attending school he fell in love with the senior class secretary and valedictorian, June Beatrice Chandler, the one and only love of his life. They were later married on November 4, 1955 in Inkom, Idaho, to this union they added 5 beautiful children; 3 sons and 2 daughters.He spent 8 years serving in the Army National Guard his rank is Sergeant First Class. He also served on the Inkom city council for 8 years, and drove bus for the Marsh Valley school district for 51 years. He worked at the Inkom Cement Plant for 41 years.One of his greatest loves was the gospel of Jesus Christ; it was something that he was very passionate about and loved to share it with all. He was able to serve in many different callings in the LDS church, and served two missions. Later in life he enjoyed going to the Pocatello Women's Correctional Center and teaching the women there about the atonement of Christ.He loved to support his children and grandchildren in whatever it was that they were involved in from dance recitals to sporting events, he truly loved his family! He enjoyed fishing, camping, getting firewood, and anything that would allow him to be in the outdoors. He was a jovial man, one of the greatest examples to those around him of service; serving others is what he enjoyed the most.Edward is survived by his Wife, June Beatrice Chandler Shaffer of Inkom, Idaho; Son, Rex Shaffer (Ricki) of Inkom, Idaho; Daughter, Dannette Lewis (Wayne) of Pocatello, Idaho; Son, Max Shaffer (Jan) of Inkom, Idaho; Daughter, Laura Anderson (Delane) of American Falls, Idaho; 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; Brother, Dan Shaffer (Natalie) of Inkom, Idaho; Sister, Barbara Ward of Inkom, Idaho.He is preceded in death by his Parents, Son, Stanley Antone Shaffer; Sister, Wanda Faye Burrup.A viewing and family visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel from 7 pm-9 pm and also one hour prior to the funeral services to honor Edward's life which will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Inkom Skyline LDS Chapel 150 Snow Peak Inkom, Idaho starting at 11:00 am under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel with interment service to follow at the Inkom Cemetery.
