Edward F. Yankowski, 97, of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Violet (Bungard) Yankowski died peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2016 in Manchester. Ed was born on November 29, 1918 in Manchester son of the late Frank and Mary (Wiwigacz) Yankowski. He was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and had been a lifelong resident. He was a proud veteran of WW II serving his country in the US Army. Prior to his retirement in 1983, Ed was employed with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for over 30 years. He was a longtime Communicant of St. Bridget Church in Manchester. Ed is survived by his daughter Christine J. Yankowski of Bolton, his two sons; Edward P. Yankowski of Brunswick, MD and Michael P. Yankowski and his wife Linda of Manchester. He also leaves his two grandchildren; Danny Yankowski of Chesapeake, VA and Karen Alford and her husband Bob of East Windsor, two great-grandchildren; Eddy McGauhey and Melody Alford and several nieces, nephews and many good friends. In addition to his wife, Ed was predeceased by his grandson Eddie Kelsey, a brother Sylvester Yankowski and his two sisters; Bernice Mordavsky and Stephanie Mihalik. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St. Manchester. Please go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Manchester. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Section P.G.A.
