Edward Powell Owen1923-2016Edward Powell Owen died on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the age of 93. He was born on August 10, 1923 in San Antonio, Texas and was the second child of Bernice Powell Owen and Walter Preston Owen. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a Civil Engineering degree, married Dorothy Myrick, and served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. After the war Ed returned to Texas. In Houston, he and Dot raised their four daughters.Ed is preceded in death by his brother, Preston, his parents, and by Dot, his wife of 70 years. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Jenifer Pipkin (Michael), Elizabeth Kern (Jeff), Kay Ross (Knox), and Martha Owen (Paul Forderhase). Ed loved his grandchildren: Sarah Pipkin; Erin Kern; Anna, Timothy (Sarah), and Megan Ross; and Daniel and Andrew Forderhase.The funeral service will be held at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. A private, family-only interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
