O'Malley, Edward P.Edward P. O'Malley, Age 59, from Pottstown, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at home on Saturday September 23, 2017 surrounded by his family. To all that knew him he was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.Edward was born on September 23, 1958 in Oneonta, the son of William and Marie O'Malley. He graduated from Oneonta High School in 1977, Broome Community College in 1979 and State University College of New York in Oneonta in 1981.Edward was a passionate sports enthusiast playing tennis, basketball and golf. He was a loyal fan following his NY Yankees and NY Giants. One of his greatest joys was routing from the sidelines as his daughter, Marie played in various sports. Ed followed his passion for tennis working at The Harry Hopman/ Saddlebrook International Tennis Resort, Director of Tennis at the Cooperstown Country Club, and The Director of Tennis at the Binghamton Tennis Center. He later continued his love for tennis as a coach at State College of Oneonta and The Swathmore College in Swathmore, Pa.He is survived by his mother, Marie O'Malley of Oneonta; wife, Linda O'Malley of Pottstown, Pa; daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Deric Frost of Scottsdale, AZ; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Steve Opie of Chenango Forks; brother, William O'Malley of Chattsworth, CA; step children, Shannon Koval of Alexandria , VA and Ryan Taylor of Middle Village, NY; 3 grandchildren; and nieces, Eileen Peet and Anna Rotach.He was predeceased by his father, William O'Malley.Edward will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Mickiewicz pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating.
