Edward R Takio, 74, passed on August 15, 2021. He was born in Rhinebeck, New York on January 19, 1947 and raised by his parents Yoshio “Bob” Takio and Alice Rubenstein in Long Island New York.
He married RoseAnne Takio in 1971 and lived together for many years in Long Valley, New Jersey where together they raised 3 children Wayne Takio (Aileen Takio), Dale Takio (Katalin Nagy-Takio), Lauren Zindel (Steven Zindel). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Reid Zindel, Avery Zindel, Ryan Takio, Drew Zindel, Caden Takio and Olivia Takio. He also loved his 'grandpuppies' Lola, Lizzy, Calli and Coby.
Edward graduated from Pace University in New York. He then worked at AT&T until he retired in 1998 and was passionate about affecting the most positive change in people. After retirement Ed and Rosie moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they lived ever since.
Ed's passions were traveling around the world and experiencing the culinary delights of various cultures. In retirement he also was an auxiliary teach/staff member in the Jacksonville school system where he enjoyed many friendships with his colleagues and making an impact on the lives of so many children.
Ed's greatest source of pride was his family and those closest to him. He lived a truly full life by dedicating himself to those he loved and instilling the importance of family and devotion. Edward's greatest legacy is his children and grandchildren and in his passing he leaves us as a proud Father and Grandfather.
To help remember Ed and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Fund in memory of Edward Takio, a two-time cancer survivor himself.
A private family service will be held with immediate family in October. We are working on plans for a future Celebration of Life event for once travel is safer for everyone. We will provide details as soon as arrangements have been made.
You can to the family or in memory of Edward Takio.

My deepest sympathy to Rosie and the rest of Ed's family. He was a great presence in the neighborhood and a decent poker player. The neighborhood is dwindling. I promise to check in on Rosie since we are now connected by our common grief.

Where do I begin… I wish I was just responding to his usual text message now… instead I am tearfully typing up this note for his obituary. Still cannot believe that he is no longer with us. It is difficult to put on paper what a special bond we had; the gratitude and love I had for my father-in-law was like a daughter have for her father. So grateful for all the memories, but mostly for the loving family he started with Rosie that I am fortunate enough to be a part of. Nothing like being a Takio. It means living life to the fullest, being compassionate, kind, genuine, fighting for what’s right, standing up for those who cannot stand up for themseves and loving unconditionally. Until we meet again… Rest in peace dear Pop-Pop

After my dream came true of finding my brother I thought there would be many happy experiences ahead. At least I got to know him thru phone, Facebook and messaging and found out the things that his family and friends already knew...that he was a fine, honorable, loving man whose time here made us all smile. I will miss him again forever.

My memories of Mr. Takio go back about 30 years ago, through a friendship with his son Dale. I was blessed to have the honor of meeting him and being in his company numerous times. I got along with him immediately (as most do) and fell in love with the entire family. I was only a teenager at the time, but can still remember feeling his strong spirit and gentle soul when you were in his presence. And the love he showed through the years I knew him for his children was unwavering, in any and all circumstances. He always made me feel welcome and respected when I was in their house and the news of his passing broke my heart. Wanted to share he made a lasting impression on me from a very young age and my family is sending our love to the Takio's during this difficult time XOXO

Ed was an incredible man and always had a warm and welcoming smile on his face. A special memory I have is that Ed and Rosie were my first dinner guest when I moved into my condo in 2007. Ed was always kind and humorous. His love, pride, and joy for his wonderful family was clear to anyone who knew him. Ed will forever be missed and I continue to pray for strength and comfort for the family❤️
