Edward Travis Knight Downen, 20, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 8:30 p.m. Edward was born on December 20, 1992 in Rensselaer, IN to Howard L. and Dawn Marie McKenzie Downen, and they both survive. Edward attended Twin Lakes High School. He had previously worked at Burger King, enjoyed playing and listening to music, playing the guitar and drums, drawing and was a good worker.Surviving along with his parents, are three sisters, Tonya Downen of Lake Station, IN, Desiree Goddard of Joliet, IL, and Barbara A. Couto of (companion: Joseph Austin) of Lafayette. Also surviving is his paternal grandmother, Wanda Seaton of Rensselaer, step-grandfather, Ken Butler of Rensselaer, his maternal grandmother, Sandra McKenzie of San Antonio, TX., three nephews, Syler Pretorius, Maddox and Colton Wertz, and one niece, Makayla Marshall, and one uncle, Kenneth Lee McKenzie, and several cousins.Services will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Simplicity Funeral Care with Celebrant Carla Ellis officiating.
