ST. CHARLES - Edwill Rodney "Ed" Jordan, Sr., age 78, of St. Charles, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, IL. He was born on July 18, 1938 to Eduard and Emily Jordan in Racine, WI. Ed attended Michigan College of Mining and Technology where he met and married his wife, Marlene, in 1959, and went on to graduate and start a family. He moved to Columbus, OH, where he worked as an electrical engineer at Jeffery Manufacturing Co. He specialized in designing motors for mining machinery and locomotives and eventually became Chief Engineer. Ed and his family moved to St. Charles, IL, in 1980 where he continued to work as an electrical engineer at Goodman Equipment Co., where he got to travel the world for his job. He went to South Africa, Chile, Korea, Canada and Mexico, as well as other mining sites in the U.S., to go down into the coal, silver or salt mines to repair motors on mining equipment. Ed was a family man who loved to play with his children and his pets, took his family on many camping vacations, has traveled to over 25 states and was always visiting relatives. Ed was an active member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in St. Charles for 36 years and was a very loving and caring man with a smile and a handshake or hug for anyone. His passions were singing in the church choir and solving Sudoku puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Marlene, 4 children, Esther, Edwill Jr., Heidi (Ronald) and Rebecca, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, from 4pm to 6:30pm at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at 10:30am at St. Marks Lutheran Church, across the street. Proceed to cemetery afterwards.
