Edwin Hernandez was my uncle. He was the closest thing I had to a dad other than my actual dad. He died July 2, 2021 of cancer. it really broke all of our hearts because we were so very close to him. His death really was unexpected, at the time he passed, my mom,my brothers and I were in Georgia to visit my grandma. I wasn't able to attend the funeral. I felt extremely guilty because I wasn't able to say goodbye to my uncle.

My uncle attended the Air Force in El Salvador as one of the people that jump off the plane and shoot the enemy's. After he came to the United States, he became a truck driver with my dad. He liked driving the trucks, it was his passion.

My uncle was a great person and I really do miss him. All the jokes he told me, all the times we went to the store and bought candy. Man, I wish he was here to attend my graduation. My cousin, his daughter graduated last year as valedictorian, he would've been so proud of her.

l hope my uncle is in a better place now.

Edwin Hernandez was a beloved husband,father,uncle,grandfather and friend.
