Eaton Jr., Edwin D.Edwin D. Eaton Jr., 82, of Morton, IL passed away Monday, April 24, 2017, at Unity Point Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.Edwin was born on September 23, 1934, to Edwin and Helen (Strohm) Eaton in Springfield, MA. He was predeceased by his spouse, Robyn and his sister, Barbara Treadway.Surviving children are; Eric (Rose) Eaton and Alex (Janine) Eaton, both of Binghamton, NY, Karen (Brian) Hyde of Charlottesville, VA, Edwin "Terry" (Jody) Eaton III, and Michael (Michelle) Eaton, both of Morton; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Edwin is also survived by his brother, Ken (Kay) Eaton of Waitsfield, VT, his cousin Sue (Chris) Rudolph of Winter Park, FL, and his former spouse, Kathleen Eaton, of Binghamton, NY, Edwin was raised in the Hartford, CT area. He graduated from Suffield Academy in 1953 and attended the University of Vermont from 1953-1954. He joined the U.S. Army in 1954, serving three years as a Mountain Warfare Instructor at Ft. Carson and Camp Hale, CO. He attended the University of Colorado and the University of Wyoming from 1957 to 1961, graduating with a Bachelor degree in Journalism.After college, Edwin worked for newspapers in Colorado and Pennsylvania and then for the Evening Press in Binghamton, NY. In 1966, Edwin joined Caterpillar, Inc. as a publications editor and public affairs representative. He also worked as a senior training consultant in parts distribution retiring in August of 1999. Most recently, Edwin served as a tour guide at Caterpillar's Morton Parts Distribution Center.Edwin was an avid snow skier and instructor, teaching skiing in the U.S Army and at numerous ski areas including Greek Peak in Virgil, NY. He was a member of the Village Courts Athletic Club in Morton and a participant of the Caterpillar Wednesday Golf League.Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be held at a later date at Glenwood Cemetery in Homer, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the U.S. Ski Team at
